A unique location with a rich history
Welcome to Kanteen25. Our spacious venue sits in building 025 on the Marineterrein in the center of Amsterdam. The Marineterrein and building 025 both have a rich history.
Building 025
In the early ’60s, building 025 became a meeting place for the different ranks of marine officers. Rank differences played a big role in the Marines, so the quarters were strictly separated. That’s why it was rather special that, at the time, building 025 opened up for the different ranks to socialize with one another. The bar on the ground floor received the nickname ‘All Ranks Bar’ and the building became known as ‘The Golden Ball’ by the end of the ’60s.
Marineterrein
In 2011, the Ministry of Defence decided to vacate the Marine Etablissement Amsterdam. In 2015, the gradual redevelopment of the Marineterrein officially began. That’s when the Marineterrein became a green oasis and testing ground in the middle of Amsterdam: where solutions for international challenges are devised, tested and applied.

What is your way of traveling?
You can park your car at the Interparking IJ-oever Centrum car park (Vriesseveem 9). Book a parking spot in advance from € 9,-
Walk up the Piet Heinkade and take a left turn on Blauwhoedenveem. Keep walking straight ahead until you reach Muziekgebouw Bimhuis, cross the Piet Heinkade to get to the Muziekgebouw Bimhuis tram stop (line 26).
Take the stairs or the elevator next to the stop to go down. From here you can walk directly to the Commandantsbrug after which you enter the Marineterrein. Walk past the Scheepskameel to get to Kanteen25.
Note: cars with a disability parking card and/or people with walking difficulties can park in front of the Kanteen25 entrance (please indicate when booking a table or send an email to info@kanteen25.nl).

By bike
Take the Piet Heinkade from Amsterdam Centraal until you reach the Kattenburgerstraat tram stop (line 26). Take a right turn to cross the tunnel and take a left turn on the Dijksgracht. Keep cycling straight ahead until you reach the Commandantsbrug; cross it to enter the Marineterrein. Cycle past the Scheepskameel to get to Kanteen25.
By foot
Take the Piet Heinkade from Amsterdam Centraal until you reach the IJ-tunnel. Go down until you reach the Dijksgracht and take a right turn. Keep walking straight ahead until you reach the Commandantsbrug; cross it to enter the Marineterrein. Walk past the Scheepskameel to get to Kanteen25.
Alternatively, take the main entrance from Kattenburgerstraat 5 to enter the Marineterrein and follow the signs to get to Kanteen25.

Tram 26
Line 26 is currently situated at CS IJzijde until August 2020. Walk to the back of Amsterdam Centraal, take tram 26 and get off at the Katteburgerstraat stop. Take a right turn to cross the tunnel and the Mariniersbrug. Keep walking straight ahead until you reach the Marineterrein entrance.
Bus 22
Walk to CS IJzijde to find the bus stops. Take bus 22 and get off at Kattenburgerplein. Keep walking straight ahead until you reach the intersection and take a right turn. Keep walking straight ahead until you reach the Marineterrein entrance on your left.
Bus 48
Walk to CS IJzijde to find the bus stops. Take bus 48 and get off at Kattenburgerstraat. Take a right turn to reach the Marineterrein entrance.

First, tell the taxi driver to enter the Marineterrein from the main entrance on Kattenburgerstraat 5. Then, ask the taxi driver to drive up to the post and ring the Kanteen25 bell. Next, the taxi driver can drop you off in front of the Kanteen25 entrance (building 025).
